New Year’s resolutions
(creative people edition)
Happy New Year creative people!
By definition, January is the right month for planning the year ahead.
The month for setting goals and resolutions. We have prepared a list you might want to look at before putting too much pressure on yourself with those resolutions! 🧘🏻♀️😌🌈
Happy reading 📖

N. 1
Ease up on yourself

Anyone who does creative work knows how their judgment is always harsher than what we receive from others. At the same time, anyone who does a creative job knows that the right inspiration or productive mood can’t be bossed around. Be more tolerant of yourself, go easy on yourself (like Adele teaches) even when the result doesn’t satisfy you (see point 7), and as much as possible, listen to yourself when you need a break (see point 2) 🥱🥴
N. 2
Let yourself be inspired

Whatever your creative field, experience a new situation to gather new inspiration.
Visit a city you’ve never been before, go back to a significant place of the past, visit an exhibit or watch a movie, meet new people… 🌍🛩️ If you can’t travel, try to do it virtually or with your fantasy ( e.g. by reading a good book)

N. 3
Don’t quit, do it

For a year of growth and improvement, consider undertaking a more challenging project than the one you have done to date. Take the opportunity of the new year to bring new goals to you! 📝
N. 4
Never stop learning

Start the new year with a project using materials, techniques or tools that are new to you or that you’ve always said you wanted to learn. Don’t rush it! As with everything, start with the basics, and you will see that success is guaranteed (if not, see point 7)
N. 5
If not now, then when?

Pick up that project you abandoned halfway through and get in front of it 🙌🏼
Did it take longer than expected? Before you start another one, finish that one first. Do you use techniques you don’t know? Go back to point 3 Don’t like it anymore? See point 7

N. 6
Forget the result

Don’t get too attached to the outcome, but consider the big picture 🖼️
Rejoice in your progress on a larger scale and embrace and flaunt the imperfections in your creations – they’re what make them unique! ✨

N. 7
Switch off your brain

We tend to forget how our passions were born, how it was to draw as children without rules and without “expectations”, just to enjoy a creative outburst. Take some time off and then come back to free your creativity and imagination. 🪄🪅
Just let yourself be guided by the moment and your instinct!
