5 reasons to be a Grinch during Christmas
What we can learn about sustainability from “How the Grinch stole Christmas?”
In our mind, being a Grinch means not to appreciate Christmas holidays and celebrations, but considering from a sustainable perspective we have something to learn also from the Grinch 🎅👽
Here is our guide to have a green Christmas and celebrate it also with our planet!🌍👇🏼
N. 1
Limit yourself
Consider not to overbuy presents for your loved ones, as Grinch says don’t make Christmas revolve around only gifts 🙅🏼♂️
Instead, prefer one big present, buy less and local or support small businesses and artisans with high-quality and unique pieces 🎁
N. 2
Recycle and reuse
Living on top of Mount Crumpit, the Grinch gives us the greatest lesson of all. Instead of letting the waste decompose on the mountain, he retrieves it and then reuses it, recycles it or finds a new purpose for it 🔁
As the Grinch says
We don’t have to create mountains of waste, but we can train our creativity to rethink objects that would otherwise be thrown away in our own small way ✨
N. 3
Limit food waste
As far as possible, plan the menu and courses for the various dinners and lunches you plan, intending to limit leftovers and, therefore, food waste. If you’re looking for menu inspiration, opt for plant-based dishes and try to make use of seasonal foods in your area 🥬
N. 4
Choose second-hand
At least once a day, we all experience the drama of not knowing what to wear or thinking we don’t have anything suitable! Especially for occasions like Christmas, which involve specific colours or textile, the temptation to fall into fast fashion is just around the corner! If you just can’t avoid buying a new item, opt for secondhand clothes 👚
N. 5
Readapt your clothes
Office parties, dinners with friends or family evenings… there is no shortage of social occasions! And with it the ever-present trend of Christmas jumpers or accessories. Why not modifying a jumper you already have? Maybe that old or slightly felted one you keep in your wardrobe. Ribbons, pom-poms and decorations: let your imagination run wild 🪄
