“An important step that we can (and must!) take is making an informed choice when purchasing clothing.”
Vittoria Perino – founder of CONSCyou
“Sustainability is love”. Do you agree?
Absolutely! Sustainability is first and foremost love for the planet: garments will degrade in the environment more easily and quickly using non-polluting materials, thus reducing the environmental footprint of the individual garment.
Secondly, it’s love of people, because sustainable garments are made by artisans who are paid regularly and fairly.
Finally, I think it is also love for oneself because by wearing a garment made with care, with non-polluting materials, without the use of harmful chemicals, you are performing an act of love.
As a result you will have a piece of clothing that by withstanding the wear and tear of the time will remain in your wardrobe for longer.
Think about it: how many of us still have that sweater or jacket of a parent or grandmother and whose quality and value we still recognize today, 20 or 30 years later?
The clothes that remain are the ones we are most fond of and that accompany us for years!
How did you select the brands that we can find on your e-commerce? Did you follow some specific criteria?
The brands were selected because they share the same values as Conscyou. They are both sustainable and ethical. These brands try to have the least possible impact on the planet by using natural, recycled or organic materials; reducing annual collections and producing in local companies. In addition, they all have certifications for both textiles and chemical treatment. They protect the work of local industries and are committed to helping surrounding communities through social projects.

Rifò
What’s your favourite garment from your shop?
Of course I find that all the products are beautiful! But if I had to choose one, I think it would be the Alda sweater by Rifò . This brand produces in Italy by reusing cashmere, which comes from old clothing, so the material is really soft and of good quality. It’s a great example of circular fashion!
What is self-love for you? What role does fashion play in this scenario?
I believe that self love means thinking about your own well-being and trying to do the things that make us feel good. This translates into the care of one’s body and mind.
Fashion certainly offers us many opportunities to feel good about ourselves, for example, by providing us with clothes in which we feel comfortable. I think we should dress for ourselves first and foremost!
How would you convince all the sceptical in buying sustainable clothing?”
I would recommend to try them on to see and feel firsthand the material; I’m sure they will immediately notice the difference!
