7 artists and crafters from Ukraine to discover and uplift right now.

You have probably wondered and made some research on how to better support Ukraine. Donating money to non-profit organizations and contribute to international fundraising efforts is surely first option.
In addition to this, you can directly help a person or family through supporting their small businesses.
Indeed, many Ukraine makers and artisans are still selling from their website and shipping out of the country, others offer digitals downloads, NFT or accept donations.

After the list of upcycling designers, among which there is the successful Ukrainian designer Ksenia Schnaider, here
the list of contemporary Ukrainian artists and artisans👇🏽

N. 1

Painter – Iryna Maksymova

The first artist we want to highlight is @maxymova

Iryna is a painter from Lviv, Ukraine.

This is what she wrote on her Instagram on the 17th March: “I left Lviv, Ukraine 11 day ago, because the Russians invasion in Ukraine . Now I’m with my dog in safe place in Portugal. I’ve started to preparing new artworks for sale, to help my country and people.  Peace please 🕊🙏❤️”

Please stay with us, go to protests, sign petitions, demand the no-fly zone at least for the evacuation corridors.” #noflyzone #noflyzoneua #standwithukraineeastgermany

Feminist ceramist – Jane and Stacy

Two ceramists from Ukraine to look at:  @morraceramics

They had to stop the production, but you can support getting a digital plate for now.
How will this work?

Read their story from their own words:
“We are two feminists from Kharkiv, Ukraine, who opened their studio 2 years ago. On February 24, 2022, Russia started a war against our country. We were forced to evacuate with our small dog Cuba and leave our house and our workshop, which is now destroyed. Now we are in Croatia, where we are trying to start everything from the beginning. In Ukraine, we still have families and friends whom we help. For the last 2 weeks, we have not been engaged in ceramics, but have been helping other Ukrainians to evacuate. We launched the sale of digital plates, part of the income from which will go to help the Ukrainian army and Ukrainians who remain in the war zone. When we will set up our production you will receive your plates with unique design upon your request.”

If you don’t know exactly what ethno photography is, we highly suggest visiting the profile of Anna Senik @annasenik

Anna is now a fighter of the Armed Territorial Defense and her profile is almost a diary of the war.

This is what she says:
“The war-affected everyone you saw in my photos: it threw someone in the hell of fighting, put a heavy burden of volunteer responsibility on others, and brutally expelled others from their homes. I want to show how those, whom you have seen in the magical images of the past, live now. […]
Social networks often ask: what do you dream of after the war. I dream of seeing all those I photographed alive and happy at home.”
